I’ve been waiting to write the post for most of my adult life. I’m definitely not a fan of when “religionism” gets to resembling pagan idolatry (usually by transgressing Gospel precepts), because that is a reliable indicator of the presence of unworthy shepherds. (Just like that.)
On the other hand, is it somehow better when “religionism” gets to resembling pre-Messianic pharisaism as in obsessive puritanism? So I’m in a dilemma here because I can’t quite bring myself to buy the convenient myth that the radical reformation was all about “getting free” from all the “popery” in the sense of a pure, honest freedom of worship according to their consciences and then just tending to their own business happily ever after or going off and missioning to some tribe of unsuspecting heathens somewhere.
I like conscience, and when people speak of conscience and minding their own business my ears perk up, and my idealism goes into full swing. So I did what I could to believe this was the whole story. But my addiction to that old nag known as history got the better of me, and the history (Google “Oliver Cromwell” and “Irish genocide”) shows only too clearly that it’s also very much about getting control of the powers that be to make puritanical bans on pretty much everything that makes life a joy by legislating according to their toddler-like, anally fixated, two-dimensional interpretation of Sacred Scripture…and then maybe on a bad day wiping out whole races of people.
Too often evangelicalism’s fundamentalist cults, besides promoting only the grossest ignorance of history, represent a sort of anal sadism in their approach to law, making Sharia look like sort of a canon of vague suggestions by comparison. It seems to stem often from a hatred of life as life, a decidedly unorthodox insistence on total corruption and predestined damnation. Needless to say, this is as sick as it is heretical, and it does not open the soul, nor the culture, to the Gospel message, which presupposes God’s gifts of freewill and joy! So I would have to say, THE JOYLESS NUCLEAR WINTER OF PURITAN NEO-PHARISAISM HAS AILED THE ANGLO-SAXON WORLD FOR LONG ENOUGH.
A lot of these conspiracies by non-Incarnation, neo-Judaic* puritan spin-offs that finger the Jesuits and the Vatican are, to put it crudely, mainly powered by projective speculation. That is, what these spiritually malnourished/poisoned men are really telling you is what fills their hearts, what they would do if they had the influence they feverishly dream the religious establishments they indict wield. Theory is fun, but for the immature it is all they have, for to the neurotically hyper-religious fact is meaningless.
So back in the real world, legislation-wise, government must champion neither puritanism nor feminism, neither Anglicanism nor Catholicism (much as every group—especially the least healthy—wants its voice heard and its ego stroked, and they usually can’t quite seem to get enough). Government must be somewhat lenient not only toward religious traditions and cultural customs (and who is to say where one ends and the other begins?) but also of personal choices like smoking (any leaf), drinking (any nectar) and of making any mistake one can provided it does not of itself directly, objectively harm another (which abortion does obviously).
Also let me just point out that one of the reasons evil has made such strident inroads into Western society is precisely because Christians are too tied up, too enamored of petty infighting so they are rendered incapable of addressing the threat of pagan degeneracy. All have partaken of the buffet of vainglory, all have corrupted their common sense with visions of fascism, trying to compensate by casting their lost with the “Religious Right” (which is decidedly neither), and accordingly, in Shakespeare’s words, “all are punishèd.”

But note: these are no contrived planks but God-given, intuitive, organic, common-sense, unconscious, instinctual positions that every natural man gladly takes up as soon as he is conscious of them, and I am sure that, deep down, all hold them.
Therefore, the only question left is: How far are we all willing to go in living them?

The United States Constitution protects the Freedom of Assembly for all religions, cults and covens. This includes Freemasons, the Ku Klux Klan, the Boy Scouts of America, the Knights of Columbus, the Bohemian Club and yes, the (probably) non-existent Order of the Mexican Jumping Bean. For a Catholic-turned-Orthodox (partly over the secret society issue but totally by God’s grace), this is an easy concept to grasp because we are at home with mystery as was the early Church. We are called to be the Light of the World, and that is how darkness is banished, not by cursing it. This is the Gospel way. Fire and brimstone not so much. Not by our hands or our invocation. If we deny the Freedom of Assembly to Occultists, we deny it to Christians. If we deny it to secret societies, we deny it to families. We must steer clear of any legislation or other action to prevent such meetings. We must engage eagerly in every legitimate effort to expose such workings for what they are so their public relations people don’t keep succeeding in passing them off as merely “charitable”/“philanthropic” organizations!

– True love is spiritual; two people using each other for higher social standing is carnal.
– Making a change on principle is drive; making a change out of anger is impulse.
– Etc.
A lot of slavery is because we are content to live in addiction rather than seeking the higher things of taste. So often, we teach our children to pursue nobler things but we don’t keep a slice of our advice. Give a “piece” a chance today.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Three freight trains collided in Northwest Indiana, just east of Valparaiso, causing a massive chain reaction derailment and small fire.
Three trains were involved in the crash on the CSX rail line that runs from Chicago to New York. The first train stopped for an emergency, and a second train slowed but still hit the first train. A third train then plowed into the first two, apparently unaware of crash.
Two people were injured and were being treated by nearby Porter Hospital. They were listed as stable, a spokesman said.
CSX officials were not immediately available for comment. Video from the scene showed several charred cars strewn across a wooded field. Flames were visible, and firefighters were working to put out a small fire.
The crash happened around 1:20 p.m. at County Road 500 East and 600 North in Jackson Twp. near the town of Westville. That’s located about four or five miles northeast of downtown Valparaiso.
The area is largely rural although there are some homes nearby. Authorities are reportedly closed down roads near the crash scene.
Phil Griffith, director of the Porter County Emergency Management Agency, said there was a small explosion after the accident, and there were hazardous chemicals on board.
The accident was about two miles away from a school with about 600 kids, officials said.

Supersoldier ants can occur naturally in the wild, but only rarely. In the deserts of America and Mexico, their job is to protect the colony from raids by invading army ants.
The supersoldiers use their enormous heads to block the nest entrance and attack any enemy ants that get too close.
Scientists showed that ordinary ants of the species Pheidole morrisi contain all the genetic ‘tools’ needed to turn them into supersoldiers – they just need a hormonal push.
The research is reported today in the journal Science.

The results suggest that holding on to ancestral development toolkits may play an important role in evolving new physical traits, say the researchers.
The Federal Register published a notice of December 28 providing a brief overview on a behind closed doors Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) meeting to be held at TSA headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, on January 9, 2012.

The DHS notice explains that disclosing further details on the meeting would not be in the public interest, although it states that “there will be material presented regarding the latest viable threats against the United States, and how DHS and other Federal agencies plan to address those threats.”
The DHS Office of Counterterrorism will present a briefing on the Department’s implementation plan to counter domestic violent extremism. Providing this information to the public would provide terrorists with a road map regarding the Department’s plan to counter their actions, and thus, allow them to take different actions to avoid counterterrorism efforts.

What of that?
Showing important men pictured together and smiling and making Satanic Rock ’n Roll gestures does not demonstrate that they work in tandem secretly. Usually what it demonstrates, for anyone who cares to understand human nature, is that it’s all they can do to sit down together without jumping down each other’s throat. But some people will not think of this because they have a vested interest in alarming people at all cost, so honest constructive insight is simply not on their agenda. Who are the real enemies here?!
