Argentina just made it more expensive for its people to use credit cards outside the country, and more dangerous for cardholders who aren’t paying all the taxes they should.

One measure published in Friday’s official bulletin adds a 15 percent tax every time people make a purchase outside the country using a card issued by an Argentine bank. Another requires the banks to report every credit card purchase, home or abroad, to the tax agency.

Larissa, a 66-year-old manager at an Israeli investment company, waited in line last week at a Tel Aviv youth centre to get a gas mask, one of tens of thousands of Israelis rushing to pick up such protective kits in recent weeks.

Amid media speculation that Israel may carry out a strike on Iran’s nuclear sites and possibly prompt a regional war, the number of Israelis collecting state-funded gas masks has quadrupled from 17,000 in April to 70,000 in July, according to the military.

As she prepared to take the box from the postal workers charged with the distribution of the masks, Larissa, who did not want her last name to be published, said: “I am afraid – I don’t believe an attack will happen but I’d like to have the mask just in case.”

Google has received a patent for a technology that could revolutionise searching – as well as giving the search engine unprecedented knowledge about the world.

Humans have an innate ability, thanks to our eyes and brain, to look at any object – from a cat to a lamp to a river-bank – and recognise it and catalogue it.

This is far less easy for computers to do – but Google may be about to change that, thanks to its patent for ‘automatic large scale video object recognition’.

While a majority of jobs lost during the downturn were in the middle range of wages, a majority of those added during the recovery have been low paying, according to nytimes.com
August 31, 2012

The disappearance of midwage, midskill jobs is part of a longer-term trend that some refer to as a hollowing out of the work force, though it has probably been accelerated by government layoffs.

“The overarching message here is we don’t just have a jobs deficit; we have a ‘good jobs’ deficit,” said Annette Bernhardt, the report’s author and a policy co-director at the National Employment Law Project, a liberal research and advocacy group.

Governor Chris Christie Keynote Speech Republican National Convention 08282012

“…real leaders don’t follow polls, real leaders change polls…”

Personally, I think that Gov. Christie gave a great speech.  There is a rumor that the governor was asked to tone it down.  While many are dissatisfied with the speech, I believe that Gov. Christie did what expected of him.

The New Jersey governor reached out to America with the purpose of opening eyes to that which is representative of the Republican Party. Gov. Christie debunked some of the Progressive propaganda, which blinds so many on the left.  Moreover, he called out what needed to be called out even if it meant touting his accomplishments, i.e., the accomplishments of a Republican, which never would have been considered by Progressives on both the left AND the right.

The message that I took away from this speech is no more excuses, no more blame games, no more leading from behind.  Republicans (in my…

…To those Democrats and Independents whose minds are open to argument, listen closely to the Democratic Party who will gather in Charlotte and ask yourself if you hear your voice in the clamor.

Ask yourself if these Democrats still speak for you.

When they say we have a duty to grow government even when we cannot afford it, does it sound like compassion to you or does it sound like recklessness?

When you hear the party that glorified Occupy Wall Street blast success.  When you hear them minimize the genius of the men and women who make jobs out of nothing, is that what you teach your children about work?

When they tell you America is this unequal place where the powerful trample on the powerless, does that sound like the country your children or your spouse risk their lives for in Iraq or Afghanistan?

Do you even recognize the…

“…In America, todo es posible…”

“…and at 18, I guarded the parking lot at the Catholic church bingos….I carried a Smith & Wesson 357 magnum….”

“…and I looked over at Chuck and said, ‘I’ll be damned, we’re Republicans….'”

Everyday Americans experience an epiphany and finally with eyes wide open, are leaving the Democratic Party aka Democratic Socialists of America Party.

A great speech.  Powerful and passionate.   God bless Governor Martinez.
