A drunken broker apparently shook the global oil market much like a major international incident. A report claimed a senior broker at PVM Oil Futures pushed oil prices $1.50 higher in a night of blacked-out trading.

Steve Perkins spent $520 million of his client’s cash on oil futures contracts throughout the night during a “drunken blackout”. The US Financial Services Authority made this discovery while investigating a mysterious oil price spike on June 30, 2009.

For two hours in the middle of the night, Perkins purchased 7 million barrels of crude, or 69%of the global market, bidding prices higher and higher and bringing them up to $73.05 from $71.40, CNBC reported.

The next morning, an admin clerk called Perkins to ask why he had bought so much crude during the night, but Perkins couldn’t recollect making the trades. Later, after he apparently sobered up and became terrified with…

At less than six inches and just under 10 ounces, the Ruger .380 is considered by gun owners to be a great little pocket pistol.

So small, in fact, that you can sometimes get one onto an airplane.

D’oh!

Yep, the New York Daily News reports that a woman flew 938 miles from Orlando, Fla., to Newark, N.J., on Thursday with a loaded .380 in her purse. United flight 15 was airborne before she realized what she’d done—and airport screeners had missed. How the Daily News said it unfolded:

She didn’t tell anyone on the plane about the weapon during the flight, which left Florida at 8:19 a.m.

But when she landed at Newark Airport at 10:24, she immediately told a Port Authority police officer.

The newspaper identified the woman as a 37-year-old Orlando firefighter. New Jersey officials called Florida authorities, but the…

THE JEENYUS CORNER

Armed militants have attacked a prison in the Iraqi city of Tikrit, killing at least 12 guards and freeing about 90 inmates, officials have told the BBC.

They say a suicide bomber detonated a car bomb at the gates of Tasfirat prison and clashes between militants and security guards followed.

Some of the escaped inmates were reportedly al-Qaeda members.

The prison was later retaken from the gunmen by security forces, reports say. A curfew is now in place in the area.

The security forces are trying to re-capture the prisoners.

Tasfirat holds several hundred inmates, some of them condemned to death.

‘Files destroyed’

The unidentified gunmen stormed the prison on Thursday night.

The attack lasted into the early hours of Friday, and at one stage the militants controlled all the gates of the Tasfirat prison, about 160km (100 miles) north-west of Baghdad.

But a source in the…

Is the end of Monsanto within reach? It has certainly been a rough couple of weeks for the mega corporation as the real dangers surrounding GMOs are being brought to the attention of consumers on a global scale like never before.

It all started with the monumental French study finding a serious link between the consumption of Monsanto’s Roundup-drenched GMOs and massive tumors.

Being called the ‘most thorough’ research ever published on the real health effects of GMOs, the study led to even larger victories.

After the study not only did France call for a potential worldwide ban on GMOs pending the results of their in-depth analysis, but Russia’s major consumer rights organization announced a ban on both the importation and use of Monsanto’s GMO corn.

Prop 37 Can Label Monsanto Out of Existence

And now, the Proposition to label all GMOs in the state…
