The official media-friendly narrative explaining yesterday’s latest tragic shooting incident in midtown Manhattan in which a recently unemployed Jeffrey Johnson, 58, walked up to his former boss and shot him three times point blank before “calmly” walking away, is that Johnson also shot 9 other people, luckily none fatally, before being taken down by the NYPD. Sadly, as so often happens these days, the “media-friendly” narrative is wrong, and as CBS and Guardian report, Johnson did not fire during the quote unquote shootout, in which at least nine other perfectly innocent were hit, all of them by stray NYPD bullets.

(ABC News) Washington Park, Ill – August 24, 2012 – In a dramatic nighttime raid, police stormed the Illinois home of a man accused of holding a teenager captive for three years, raping her, and impregnating her, law enforcement officials said.

Washington Park police, assisted by SWAT teams from neighboring counties stormed the home Thursday evening, arresting a 25-year-old man and his mother, officials from two counties confirmed.

Cops also removed from the home two children and placed them in the custody of the state Department of Children and Family Services, said St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly.

One of the children is reportedly the 2-year-old son of the victim and the suspect. The age of the other child has not been released.

Anti-Nato campaigners will try to persuade SNP members at a conference to uphold the party’s long-standing position of keeping an independent Scotland out of the alliance.

The party’s Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) group opposes moves by the leadership, including First Minister Alex Salmond, to swing the party behind Nato in the event of Scottish independence.
